Giant storm clouds dwarf the houses along the edge of the city.

Circles And Lines

Circles And Lines

I think that this is actually a bike rack, but I loved the way the the design was repeated and knew there was a picture in there somewhere. The multiple circles contrast the angular lines of the supports which are backed up by the lines of the railing.

Bloom On The Bow

Bloom On The Bow

Bloom is a public art piece that was installed in 2015 on St Patrick’s Island across from the East Village in downtown Calgary. It can be accessed from the Bow River Pathway on the north or RiverWalk on the south via the George C. King pedestrian bridge.

Bay Arcade At Night

Bay Arcade At Night

The downtown Bay store is one of my favourite locations. The outside arcade has a variety of shapes and patterns using granite and cream coloured terracotta. I was surprised that the lights were not on in the walkway but thought  that must be because of the construction that was happening behind me.

Taken with my Nikon Coolpix, hand held at 1/6 sec, slow enough for the pedestrian going past is blurred.

Chronic Canoe

Chronic Canoe

Another shot from my friend Neil Zeller’s photowalk. I was on the pathway on the north side of the river west of the Peace Bridge, when I saw the nice reflection from the street light on the water. I could see a canoe coming down river and wanted to include it. However, they stopped in the middle of the river, just to the right of the frame and weren’t going anywhere. Then I saw a small flame at one end followed shortly by another small flame at the other end of the canoe. Two large puffs of smoke later and the canoe was moving, allowing me to get my shot.
