That Oldman River

The fog changes the quality of the light. It makes everything softer. It dampens sounds and makes the world a quieter place. You have to see deeper into the fog to make sense of what’s in front of you. As you move, things appear out of it, somehow disconnected from our normal reality. The fog makes you closer to yourself, closer to your inner vision.

I don’t know if it is fog or just low clouds but it was hanging over the Kicking Horse Valley near Field, BC in Yoho National Park, but it sure looked interesting.

Mt. Ogden In The Mist

 

The fall brings bright colors to the foliage and interesting weather. The clouds and fog roll in on Mt Ogden on the right, but I know, up the valley lies Takkakaw Falls and the road usually closes in October, and another summer has passed without a trip up the valley, through the switch backed roads and up the side of the mountain to Canada’s second highest waterfall. More planning for next year.

On a foggy morning in the Cypress Hills, we were wandering through the forest. I came across this fallen aspen tree. The triangular shape was repeated behind it in the spruce tree.

Island In A Sea Of Clouds

Coming down from a high plateau, sometimes there is a sight that amazes. The clouds and fog had rolled down the Thompson River valley, creating a river of mist. A hill was turned into an island.
