1886 Cafe

1886 Cafe

Although the Eau Claire and Bow River Lumber Company was formed in 1886, the present building that is occupied by the 1886 Buffalo Cafe was built in 1911. The lumber company was formed by Isaac Kerr and Peter Prince. Nearby Prince’s Island was named for Peter Prince. The company floated logs down the Bow River to be milled at this location until 1945. At one time it was the largest lumber supplier in the Northwest Territories.

I thought that a monochrome conversion was in order for this image. The plain black and white was quite stark, so I added a very slight sepia/brown tone. After processing in Capture NX2 with Nik Color Efex, I opened the image in Snapseed for Windows and added a rustic frame to complete the image.

In the best light…
