Red Streak
The predawn light was still pretty dim, and the train engine had it’s headlights on. The shutter speed had to be quite slow at 2.5 seconds. The camera was panned with the movement of the train for a feeling of movement, with the trees and bushes turning into a green blur.

I was in Kamloops, BC when my phone rang. My wife Sherri called to say there had be a train derailment just south of the town where we live. Luckily there were no deaths or serious injuries. As I was on my way to Vancouver, it was not possible to take a look for myself and shoot images. This was when she piped up and said “I’d better get out there and get some pictures” (more…)
