Smoke In The Valley
As the forest fires continue, the smoke continues to flow down the valleys creating some wild looking colours in the skies. In the foothills west of Calgary, visibility is much reduced across the Bow Valley. The sun is muted through the smoke.

Bow Valley Smoke
The sun breaks through the clouds as I head into the Bow Valley towards Banff National Park. The smoke has been hanging in the air for the last couple weeks, and it creates a layered effect in the mountains.

Red Sunrise At Lac Des Arc
With the smoke in the area from the forest fires further north, the morning and evening sunlight has been strangely coloured. The cement plant on the left fades to grey as the red light glistens on the ripples in the water.

Castle Smoke
Castle Mountain is one of my favourite subjects, and I photograph it in all seasons. When smoke from a controlled burn obscured the peak, I just had to get one more shot. The dusting of snow on the river bank and on the evergreen trees adds to the wintry mood of the image.
