After The Rain

The rain storm is almost over and the road is still wet from the downpour that has just passed, then the clouds open and the sun peeks out from behind the mountains. The rays streak out and create a V shape, while lighting a small cloud.

The mountains are often the focus of severe weather. The clouds create interesting forms and shapes. The low light mutes the usually strong colors.

Rain was not a deterrent when we went out to Vermillion Lakes. This little American Coot was in a hurry going somewhere. The wake that it left behind made a pleasing pattern in the water with the rain drops spotting the surface.

Weather Near Ten Mile

When the clouds take over the sky and you can see the rain falling from afar, it’s time to get shooting. I find that weather is one of my favorite things to include in a landscape photo. You can see the rain streaking down with the sun making it’s last appearance before it retreats to behind the mountain.
