Golden Light On The North Rim
The sun sets quickly in Arizona compared to here above the Fiftieth Parallel. The shadows are deep and dark in the interior of the Grand Canyon. Preserving the details in all of that dimness can be a chore. The highlighted formations stand out.

Columbia Sunset
The Trans-Canada Highway runs along side the Columbia River west of Golden, BC. One evening I saw the golden light of the sunset reflecting off of the surface of the river, and the crepuscular rays were streaming out from under the cloud. Perfect for a simple click.
The highway crosses to the other side of the river a few miles west of here. The river swings to the north and back down around Rogers Pass. The road used to follow the river on the Big Bend Highway before the road through Rogers Pass was constructed. The river comes down through the Mica Dam past Revelstoke, where the Trans-Canada crosses for the Columbia for the final time before the river’s journey to the United States.

Maya The Wolf
Sherri and I spent an afternoon at the Northern Lights Wildlife Center near Golden, BC. We had booked a photo session and were taken for a walk in the wood with a wolf. Maya wandered about and through the trees and I photographed her as she more or less followed her handler.

Evening Glow
After the sun goes down, sometimes there is still time for one more shot. To photographers, it is known as the “Blue Hour” that period between sunset and darkness. Depending on your location, it may last more or less than an hour. The lighting is usually very cool and tends toward the blues.
In this image the clouds in the sky took on a violet hue, while the mountains stayed in the blue range.
