Sir Lawrence

Sir Lawrence

I called him Sir Lawrence but Larry is a former school teacher from Three Hills. He’s been operating combines for Carlson Ag for many years. On this day, he’s in the cab teaching his young friend the finer points of running the big harvester.

Our friend Shanyn has a worried look as she watches out for the weather. After a rain delayed harvest, the combines are back in the field but her husband Earl, still has to keep fixing them as they break down.

The late afternoon light is causing her to squint a little but she’s enjoying the sun while we’re out in the field watching combines.

Flora MacDonald

I found this image while going through old slides to scan. I encountered Flora MacDonald on the street in downtown Calgary during the 1988 Winter Olympics. She was the Minister of Communications at the time and was happy to take a moment to allow me to take her picture. After I found the slide, I looked her up and found that she had just passed away July 26, 2015. She was one of the few politicians that I have met that deserve respect, and a great Canadian.

Lesley In Winter

Lesley In Winter

While we were out shovelling snow, our friend and neighbour came over to help. While I was set up from the picture of Sherri from the last post, I convinced Lesley to get her picture taken too. She had been working hard and still had snow on her hat.
