Painted Desert

Painted Desert

Just north of the Petrified Forest National Park is an area known as the Painted Desert. Much of Arizona and the southwest is desert country and the colour varies from area to area. Here the features show in layers of ochre, terracotta and grey. The odd bit of green shows up as a nice accent to the mostly red palette.

    • LOL Thanks Frank! The sky was clear and kind of a flat blue, really not interesting. I did like the coloured formations and choose to reduce the sky to a sliver.
