Sam’s Ten Tips–#4–Strawberry Fields Forever

Earlier this year I attended an workshop in Trochu, Alberta at the historic St Ann Ranch. The workshop was named Badlands, Buicks and Old Buildings and our instructors were Darwin Wiggett and Samantha Chrysanthou. One of Sam’s presentations was called Ten Tips. Here’s my take on her exercises.

Strawberry Fields Forever

Strawberry Fields Forever

Remember that the various colours and textures of crops on the prairies can provide a graphic element to your images. I didn’t actually use a field in this image, instead, I opted for a flower bed. With the wind blowing the blossoms around, I decided to turn a minus into a plus and panned the camera across the blooms. The wash of flowers created a strawberry colored canvas.

All of Sam’s Ten Tips have titles named after songs.

In the best light…
