Sam’s Ten Tips–#2–Sky Pilot
Earlier this year I attended an Oopoomoo.com workshop in Trochu, Alberta at the historic St Ann Ranch. The workshop was named Badlands, Buicks and Old Buildings and our instructors were Darwin Wiggett and Samantha Chrysanthou. One of Sam’s presentations was called Ten Tips. Here’s my take on her exercises.
Sky Pilot
Out in the prairies, the sky is omnipresent.
The idea is to simply try to take advantage of the massive expanse and capture the sky in a larger portion of your frame.
This image is of sunrise at Dry Island Buffalo Jump Provincial Park. It was taken at 6:45 AM, an unusual hour for me to be awake and about. We shot from the view point above the park, which was the best location for the sunrise. We didn’t venture down the hill into the park because the recent rains made the road quite slick.
