Hayes HD Show Stopper
This 1968 Hayes HD is not the standard pretty of a modern highway tractor, but it is jaw-droppingly gorgeous.
Masterfully restored by Tristan Jackson with over 1500 hours of labour, a close look reveals attention to detail that simply amazes.
Tristan had the same precision wiring in his first restoration, Gord Cooper’s 1957 Kenworth, which I saw in 2003. The switch labels are all engraved into the dash and clear coated.
Sitting behind the wheel gives you a great feeling. You know that this truck is definitely Heavy Duty.
Details like these grizzly bear cut outs on the muffler shield, were everywhere.
This truck looked good even on a cloudy day, covered in raindrops.
In the best light…
