Winter Is Here

Light In Black And White

Nobody really likes winter, do they? The bad weather, bad roads and cold weather are not the favorite for most of us, but every once in a while the clouds will break and the sun comes out, and winter is great. That is what happened here. The weather was socked in and it had just stopped snowing. An opening in the clouds threw a beam of light down on this hillside and lit it up. The background clouds are thick and heavy, and they emphasize the brightly lit evergreens. I liked the contrast but the color wasn’t adding any thing to the image, so I converted to monochrome. I thought with the contrast in black & white preserved the strong lines in the image.

Do you get out and play in the snow or hide out for the winter.

In the best light…

  1. Is it too much to ask for a white winter but without the cold, shoveling and poor road conditions?
