Y’all Come Back Now
There are a lot of photographers out there who are like bird watchers. The look for a location that they don’t have grab a shot and leave. Darwin calls this group “Trophy Hunters”. There are many pros out there who revisit locations regularly.
It’s not just more of the same, it’s more and different. I love the cloud curls in the above image.
On the above image here the top of the mountain is in shade but lower down, the light is nice and warm.
On this photo, the sun has left the valley and the tops of Mount Rundle have the warm light of the sunset. This condition is called “alpenglow”, and is highly sought after by many photographers.
Of course, the easiest way to get a different look from the same locale, is to change your position. The first 3 images were taken from above Vermillion Lakes at the highway level. In the last image, I’m down by the lake side shooting from just above the reeds.
Try shooting the same location that you’ve shot before. Try to recreate an image that you like in different seasons or light. Also try and shoot an iconic location in a previously unseen way.
In the best light…
