Winter Colors

Sometimes it seems that the colors that I see in the winter are different than the colors that I see in the summer. I don’t know if that is true, but to me, I think that there is certainly a more subtle quality of light.

The sun never gets really high in the sky in the winter in Western Canada, so some evenings you get a longer “Golden Hour”.

I deliberately placed the sun behind the yield sign to reduce the hot spot from the direct sun. To me, the signs as a silhouette makes a more dramatic statement. The warmth of the setting sun can’t touch the snow in the shadows, which are rendered an icy blue color.
