Searching For A Winter Landscape

Sun And Snow

Driving around the country side looking for shots, we came across this magnificent open field. I thought there was a shot there.

There was a shot, but not exactly what I was looking for. I think it is a little, well, boring. There’s not much interesting in the shot.

Trail, Tree And Shadow

The tree in the middle of the field gives you something more to look at. We now have a point of interest. By adding the trail in the snow and the shadow of the tree, I’ve created a number of triangles and leading lines to draw you into the image.

Lone Pine And Shadow

The glare from all of that sun was starting to get to me, so I moved back into the shadow of the tree for a more dramatic looking image. Not every frame that you shoot will be a winner, but if you keep working at it you will have a better chance of finding something that you really like.

In the best light…
