Mount Lougheed
We were on our way to Banff National Park one morning and I happened to glance over towards Mount Lougheed from the Trans-Canada Highway. The light was looking really nice but I wasn’t getting the angle that I wanted from the road level. So we took the Deadman’s Flats exit and headed up the hill. I pulled over on the side of the road and climbed the embankment on the other side of the road. There I found the angle that I was looking for and the light was great. The camera couldn’t capture the entire dynamic range in the scene, so I bracketed 3 exposures. I created a tone mapped image in Photomatix and finished the post processing in Nikon Capture NX2 with Nik Color Efex Pro 3.0. I often drive directly to Banff and ignore the great opportunities to capture wonderful scenes on the way there. This is a good reminder of the old saying “Getting there is half the fun”.
