The Open Road Beckons
Highway 5A north of Merritt, British Columbia, Canada is one of my favorite drives.
There are places the pavement is a little rough but the scenery is great. After a rainstorm the colors become saturated and the greens get brighter.
Highway 22 through this section north of Lundbreck, Alberta is one of the windiest places you will ever find. 100 kilometer per hour winds would not be uncommon in this area. Empty trucks with tall trailers are often over turned by the high winds coming down the Crowsnest Pass.
North of Longview the highway blazes a path through the Porcupine Hills in Alberta’s foothills. This is the heart of ranching country.
